virtugyrl
in the fall of 2005, a year and some change after graduating from college and living with my parents to save money, i left my native virginia to strike out on my own in LA. shortly after i arrived, i met a girl my age via a craigslist job posting, who told me she was starting a magazine to empower young women: virtugyrl. i had some magazine experience from having worked at real estate business, so she hired me to help. it was short-lived, as we were both only 23 and the costs and risks associated with running a fledgling business were too damn high, but we had fun while it lasted, and we met and interviewed some interesting, successful women along the way.
